Found plates for the ’40 Ford
OK, so it’s a 1940 truck, but the title says ’41. Thus i had to find original plates that matched the year on the title to be legal. Bingo…. Im stoked. Here they are:

OK, the ’60 Cadillac is a special project. More details will come. For now let’s talk about the dash. Here is what it looks like stock:

Cadillac was always a step ahead. During this time, they were beginning to use padded plastic dash tops (uggghhh,) as well as more modern square gauge clusters (more ugggghhh.) Fuck that, it’s not the look i want so it’s gotta go…
Found a early 60′s Chevy Impala dash that’s going in. Completed mods to it with help of Dave/Steve (made metal plate fillers to weld in and filled in the speaker tray and the heater controls.) It’s in the process right now of being painted two toned, with a rootbeer flaked top and white on the bottom (my friend Alex Gambino is painting it.) the gauge pockets are copper plated. the steering wheel will be flaked as well. the only thing missing is what to do with the guages. stock wont cut it– here’s what they look like (note the guage holders are copper plated and the copper will blend into the rootbeer colored dash:)

Here is what the Impala dash looks like (this is my daily driver, a ’60 Wagons dash…)

Just like my wagon above, i’ll likely hide my radio in the tissue dispensor mounted right below the dash in center. Cadillac and tissue dispensors go hand in hand anyway.
What im thinking is modifying the stock guages and merging in the look of the classic Stewart Warner Greenline gauge (EDIT– Thanks to Ray on the HAMB, who pointed out that these gauges really aren’t called Greenline, but ”Twin Blues”) that came out in ’65. This would be era correct, as im building this as a traditional mid 60′s custom. Here’s the guage look:

May change up the colors a bit to better flow with the dash. Still thinking about that.
Im going to try to merge in the air pressure gauges into the speedo, off to the side, vertically– and also include the light for brights and odometer. Then the other four guages will be oil pressure, water temp, fuel level and tachometer.
Im feeling certain that’ll be the finishing touch to dash heaven.
Time to work for living….

PS– more pics of these gauges that i found. AKA Stewart Warner Custom Series or Twin Blue. i love these things….

- i weighed myself on monday, which was fearful. since i stopped boxing competitively in 2004, i’ve gained about 50 lbs. i weigh 247 lbs. luckily i hide it well, being 6’6″. no matter, i’m a fat fuck. im using this sorry ass state to motivate me.
- been learning a lot about world war ii. Respect those who fought and our country who came together to win. Also respect the japanese, who are true warriers.
- things are looking up in Yahoo land. i feel we’re finally headed in a good direction, and im really getting excited about it.
oh, and im making good progress on the wives truck, a ’40 Ford. Right now im waiting on new water pumps and then it’ll run nice and cool. Next comes slight lowering job and i’m painting it suede olive green. here it is…

adios for now.
