Bonjour from Avenches, Switzerland
I made it. 12 hours of air travel. Not much sleep. San Francisco – London – Geneva – and then a 80 mile drive north-east to the tiny village we’re in named Avenches. Will type more later, but in the mean time…. Stopped for dinner on the drive from Geneva to Avenches. One of the several dishes on the menu offered….
Yep, so good ole’ tasty Horse, or as they say here– Cheval. Must taste like chicken…. :-)
Got into town and to the hotel (well more like an old swiss lodge) by about 9pm. You’d think it was 2am, as the town was a ghost town– lights out. Nobody was in the lobby and it was dark. We hung out for about 15 minutes and then decided to take the job of checking in to our own hands. Went behind the counter, found the check in roster and our names on it. Saw you room number and grabbed the keys hanging up. Hope that’s how they do it in Swizerland, otherwise they might be pissed when i go down in a few min.
More to come. Im up early and its still dark at 645am. Off for a run and will take some pictures. This town is very historical (old Roman capital of Switzerland and former medievel town.)
