Some folks i know participate in this socal soap box racing, and im a big fan. Basically every month or so they (SFVISF) pick a secret location and it’s on. Everybody builds their own cars, based on the rules. Well, this morning the SFVISF (San Fernando Valley Illegal Soapbox Federation) had the race in Tarzana and one of the guys spun out, hit a parked car and died. That’s fucked up and sad.
I hope this doesnt cause an end of this racing. Just like many things in life– the fun things are risky. I’d rather die in a soapbox having fun, then on the highway battling traffic driving to work anyday…

Here’s some things that went on this weekend:
1) CHILL– You’s got to chill, because the time changed back to normal! I survived another year of daylight savings time hell, and now i can enjoy some sunlight at the end of my day. Seriously– one of the best days of the year, cause without light i get bummed out. Ah yeah, this is chill…
2) SKILL– 80′s video game skill that is… I watched a documentary this weekend named “The King of Kong” and it was about classic arcade games and how bad ass geek folks are about them. It a nutshell, this guy Steve Wiebe gets layed off from Boeing and decides to take time to try to take the world Donkey Kong record away from the 80′s king of video games, Billy Mitchell. Well, this guy Mitchell is a genuine asshat with a pocket protector mullet…

I know what you’re thinking…… But, this movie REALLY kicked ass. Unless you’re still living in 1982, you’ll end up rooting for this guy Wiebe to upset Michell’s last record in Donkey Kong– it’s a great story. The geeks in this movie are just bad ass fucking nuts over these old arcade games (NOTE: I do have a couple pinball machines and a PunchOut video game– so I too must be a playa…. the Peter Piper of the 1980′s Video Game Playa that is….)
3) Thrill– It’s pretty fucking thrilling that i finished the body work and primer on the ’40 Ford pickup truck this weekend. Now i just gotta block / wetsand my competed surface coat– then im ready to seal and paint this week. Once i get a a couple basecoats on both the cab and the bed, i will then lower the truck (drop axle, reverse spring eyelets & splitting wishbones in front; and raising upper spring mount on rear,) put the bed back on and do a couple more coats– then it’ll be complete. I’m doing basecoat only in Lockhaven Green (stock color) for a suede finish.
Tomorrow i have to head to good ol’ Omaha, Nebraska for work (never been there before) and will be back on Tuesday night. I actually hope i can take a day off this week when i get back, as ive been traveling a lot.
